We are builders of fast, strong workboats for Atlantic Canada. From our Tryon 21, which is USCG-certified for 27 passengers and goes 30 kts with 90 HP, to our big 44'’ x 22' power barges with 350 HP Volvo diesels, we build strong boats to handle North Atlantic coastal waters. We are now offering custom-built houseboats combining our time-tested, engineered epoxy structures with a Canadian-developed and patented composite exterior. All components below deck level are built of waterproof composites or epoxy/fibreglass (Visit our epoxy supplier: www.coveyisland.com). The twin hulls are 100% filled with rigid foam sealed to prevent any contact with water, gasoline etc. The composite exterior of the hull, decks and cabin sides is completely maintenance-free and guaranteed by the manufacturer for 25 years. Our 36' prototype houseboat is now 4 years old and looks like new.

This boat was built with help from the National Research Council of Canada and was sailed 300 miles from PEI to Halifax in October. Gale-force winds and fairly nasty 8’ seas were encountered rounding the notorious Cape St George but the boat coped easily. Entering Halifax harbour at night without the proper charts resulted in running up on a granite ledge at 7 kt. The lower unit was damaged but the boat suffered no damage at all. The ¾" thick composite hulls deflected at the point of impact and soon returned to their original shape. This is a very practical boat for the rental market. Absolutely no corrosion or fatigue, ever; no gel coat problems, ever; and it can bounce off rocks. (Captain Scotty's SeaCat)

Our boats emphasize safety and durability: they are the trawler yachts of the houseboat fleet. Built and tested on the North Atlantic, and using the same equipment as offshore working vessels, they are much more than just a floating RV. They look good, and under that thick, textured composite skin is a strong backbone of epoxy-composite trusses and longitudinals that will easily last 100 years without problems. One of our 44' power barges weighs 16 tons and when supported only at each corner suffers only ½" of hull deflection.

SAFETY

Safety comes first at Sea-Cat. The following are all standard equipment:
